Market Shut: NSE, BSE closed today on account of Id-Ul-Fitr

The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed on May 13 on account of Id-Ul-Fitr (Ramzan Id). Wholesale commodity markets, including metal and bullion, will also remain closed. There will be no trading activity in the forex and commodity futures markets as well.

Besides Id-Ul-Fitr, share markets will also remain closed on the occasions of Bakr Id, Muharram, Ganesh Chaturthi, Dussehra, Diwali Laxmi Pujan, Diwali Balipratipada, and Gurunanak Jayanti in the coming months.

On May 12, the Sensex was down 471.01 points or 0.96 percent at 48690.80, and the Nifty was down 154.30 points or 1.04 percent at 14696.50.

Global markets were extremely weak after US Dow Jones plummetted 681 points to witness its single-worst session since January.  Conversely, The S&P 500 dropped 2.1 percent, its biggest one-day drop since February, while the Nasdaq Composite lost 2.6 percent.
