On Monday, the market Capitalization (M-Cap) of equities of listed companies on the Bombay Stock Exchange has reached USD 3 trillion at an intraday high level for the first time ever.

 As companies report brilliant profits with improved performance for the fourth quarter, investors have bought stocks mostly from banking, Information Technology, chemical and healthcare sectors.

Commenting on the achievement, Shri Ashish Chauhan,  MD and CEO of Bombay Stock Exchange said, "Market capitalization of equities of listed companies on BSE reached USD 3 trillion for the first time ever. It is a great milestone on long journey. Congratulations to all 6.9 crore plus registered investors, 1400 plus brokers, 69000 plus Mutual Fund  distributors and 4700 plus companies."

State bank of India was the biggest gainer among the 30-share pack in Monday's session, gaining nearly 3 percent, followed by L&T, Axis Bank, PowerGrid and ITC. Conversely, Titan and IndusInd Bank were among the prominent losers.

Along with the rising market capitalization the participation by the retail investors is also growing in the equity markets. Broking companies are seeing their fortunes revive with increasing market participation from retail investors.

On Monday, On Year-to-Date (YTD) basis Sensex has gained 5.96 percent and is up by 65.74 percent in past one year.
