Martyr Major Vibhuti Dhondial receives 'Shaurya Chakra' award posthumously for killing 5 terrorists killed

Srinagar: Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhondial (Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal) was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his valour in the Pulwama (Pulwama Attack) in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Lt Nitika Dhondial, mother and wife of martyr Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhondial, received the Shaurya Chakra from President Ram Nath Kovind in Delhi.

On February 18, 2019, Major Dhondial was martyred in an encounter in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. A CRPF convoy was targeted in Pulwama on February 14, 2019. The valour of 40 jawans has been recognised. Only after the attack did the army undertake an operation to flush out the militants in Pulwama's Pinglan village. The combat at Pinglan claimed the lives of four jawans. Vibhuti Dhondhiyal, a Major Rank Officer, was one among the martyrs.

Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhondial's wife, Nitika Kaul Dhondial, who was courageous in the Pulwama terror attack, has also joined the army this year. Nitika Kaul quit her work as a multinational corporation executive to join the army, inspired by her spouse. After completing the Short Service Commission, he began training last year. She then served in the military.
