Maruti Suzuki is going to include the new BS6 petrol engine to launch the Indian automobile manufacturer Maruti S-Cross in line with the new emission standards. Apart from the BS6 emission standard, the company will discontinue the diesel engine from its new Maruti S-Cross and it will only run with petrol or CNG engines. Recently, Maruti Suzuki has launched a petrol version of the Vitara Brezza, which has only mild hybrid (SHVS) technology with a petrol engine. The company is also going to include the same engine in the S-Cross as well.

The BS6 petrol engine found in Maruti S-Cross is also present in Ciaz, Ertiga, XL6 and Vitara Brezza. The S-Cross will be given the same petrol engine Suzuki in-house. This engine produces the same power output of 105 bhp and torque of 138 Nm. Speaking of the older version Maruti S-Cross, the company had given a 1.3-litre diesel engine in it which came with a manual transmission. However, the new BS6 petrol engine now comes with a 4-speed automatic transmission option in addition to the 5-speed manual transmission. The company has given a smart hybrid system in it, which further improves the torque-assist as well as increases the mileage.
