Maruti Suzuki India is set to expand its global footprint by exporting high-specification electric vehicles (EVs) to Europe and Japan. The company plans to offer EVs equipped with a 60 kWh battery, providing an impressive range of 500 kilometers on a single charge.

Speaking at the 64th annual session of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Maruti Suzuki's MD and CEO, Hisashi Takeuchi, emphasized the company’s commitment to building customer confidence through its range of EV products. "We will have multiple such products. All our products, services, solutions, and communication will be directed towards one theme— increasing customer confidence," Takeuchi said.

Maruti Suzuki aims to address potential concerns about EV ownership by leveraging its extensive network for comprehensive after-sale support. Additionally, the company is exploring the development of biofuel and hydrogen-powered models as part of its strategy to combat carbon emissions and significantly boost exports by 2030.

In the domestic market, Maruti Suzuki is committed to integrating various technologies into its vehicles to address carbon emissions. Beyond electric and strong hybrid vehicles, the company plans to develop models utilizing biofuels and hydrogen. This includes exploring technologies and powertrain options such as hydrogen fuel cells, strong hybrids, and biofuels to reduce oil consumption and CO2 emissions.
