In its cars, Maruti is slowly saying goodbye to diesel engines and is launching new powerful petrol engines. Maruti has already announced that it will not upgrade diesel engines in its cars following the new BS6 standards, which will come into effect from April 1, 2020, next year. After that, customers will not get a 1.3-liter Fiat multijet diesel engine in Maruti's big hatchback, sedan, and SUV, whose torque was crazy. Maruti is preparing to launch a turbocharged petrol engine in place of the 1.3-liter Fiat multi-jet diesel engine. Currently, Maruti's Baleno is powered by a turbo petrol engine. The 1.0-liter 3-cylinder BoosterJet petrol engine delivers 101bhp and 150Nm of torque. The engine comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox and is available only in the BALENO's RS variant. Let's know the full details
With turbocharging and direct injection technology, this engine not only increases torque but also increases mileage. Maruti will launch the engine in Maruti Swift, Ignis, Baleno (all models) and Dzire from April next year. It is also reported that Maruti will bring a 1.0-liter petrol booster jet engine in all its 4 meters Vitara Brezza. Though Maruti has not yet officially announced it, it is believed that customers who want a car with heavy torque will prefer the turbo petrol engine. Because the same engine can only make up for the 1.3-liter Fiat diesel engine shortage. Maruti is currently making the BS6 ready 1.0-litre K-Series and a 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine without turbocharger and direct injection.
For your information, car companies other than Maruti are focusing on turbo-charged petrol engines. These engines are becoming popular these days in many segment cars. Hyundai has launched its all-compact SUV In Venue. Apart from Tata's JTP Tigor, Ford EcoSport S, the Mahindra XUV300, many cars get these engines.
