Indian boxer MC Mary Kom on Saturday evening created history by clinching an unprecedented sixth gold medal at the Women's World boxing Championship by defeating Hanna Okhota of Ukraine at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi.

Marry Kom boxer won via unanimous decision in 48kg light flyweight class to equal the record of Cuban legend Felix Savon as the joint most successful boxer (Men and Women) in the history of World Championships.
35 year old had earlier defeated Okhota in Poland earlier in 2018. The Ukranian is a junior European champion and she had also won a silver medal at the Youth World Championships.
Mary had earlier won six medals at the World Boxing Championships which includes six golds and one silver. She won the gold medal in year 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 and bagged silver medal in 2001. And the win on Saturday the tally of medal reached to seven. The record medal haul takes her past Irish boxing legend Katie Taylor (five golds and a bronze) in terms of medals won in the tournament, and she managed to equal Savon's record. He had won three Olympic gold medals, clinched six gold and one silver in heavyweight category at the tournament.
