Maserati has unveiled its long-awaited Project24, an advancing track-only version which is based on the Maserati MC20 sportscar. The Project24 will be limited to only 62 units, making it a very exquisite and exclusive offering. It isn't the first time the Italian car maker has decided to make a track-only version. In fact, in 2006 Maserati launched the MC12, which was based on the Versione Corse and was made solely for track use.

The Project24 will most likely get adjustable dampers and anti-roll bars to make it track-ready. It sports 18-inch wheels and extreme braking power by Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. The car has a carbon fibre body and has an extended rear wing, sliced front splitter and slim LED headlamps and taillights. The sports car features a twin-pipe centre-mounted exhaust and has many vents and scoops that add to the sporty design.

To meet the FIA safety standards, the sportscar will be equipped with a roll cage and a carbon-fibre steering wheel with integrated displays, adjustable pedals and steering columns, and racing seats having six-point harnesses. All this will likely be under 1250 kgs. And to power this, Maserati has taken the in-house MC20's 3.0-litre turbo V6 'Nettuno' engine with a new pair of turbos, pushing the output to 730 bhp.

Reports say, Maserati, will likely offer multiple optional upgrades for Project24. Customers will be given the option to add a passenger seat, rear-view camera, telemetry recording, in-car camera, driving performance optimization display, and tyre pressure monitoring system.
