Lucknow: In a case related to the removal of shahi masjid Idgah on 13.37 acres of land belonging to The Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, a petition was filed in the court of civil judge senior division on Monday claiming to be the sanctum sanctorum of the temple in the mosque located in the eidgah. At the same time, it has been sought from the court for its purification. The application has been filed at a time when the legal battle over The Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi is going on.
A similar petition was filed by the plaintiff Dinesh Chand Sharma in the same court on May 19, seeking permission from the court to anoint Laddu Gopal in the sanctum sanctorum at Shahi Masjid Idgah. However, as of now, the Civil Judge Senior Division has not passed any order in any of their petitions. Sharma, through his lawyer Deepak Sharma, had filed a suit in the court of Civil Judge Senior Division on February 26, 2021, seeking removal of the Idgah built on the land of Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust. The UP Sunni Central Wakf Board, The Sammaniya Committee Shahi Masjid Idgah, Sri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan and Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust have been made respondents in the case.
In both the petitions, the plaintiff has claimed that the sanctum sanctorum of Katra Keshavdev Temple is located within the Shahi Masjid Idgah and a demand to purify the same sanctum sanctorum with the holy waters of Ganga and Yamuna has been made by the plaintiff in today's petition in the court of Civil Judge Senior Division. The next date for hearing of the case has been fixed as July 1.
