Lucknow: Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan of Ala Hazrat Bareilly Sharif has made a statement on the Batla House encounter on which controversy is set to escalate. Maulana termed the Batla House encounter as fake and said that terrorists were not killed in the encounter and Inspector Mahesh Chandra Sharma was killed by the policemen.

Tauqeer also said that the Congress party had promised him that the encounter would be first investigated as soon as the government was formed in 2009, but the party did not do so. Maulana Tauqeer Raza demanded that the youth killed in the encounter be given martyr status and said Congress was concerned about the morale of the police and not the morale of the Muslims.
