New Delhi: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken cognizance of this matter after children were involved in the violence that broke out in Jahangirpuri, the capital of the country. The NCPCR has issued a notice to the DCP in this regard and directed the investigation and asked to register an FIR against the people concerned. The commission has sought a report in this matter within 7 days.

According to media reports, NCPCR President Priyank Kanungo has told that he had received a complaint from the Legal Rights Organization. The complaint said that children were involved in violent activity and they were made to pelt stones on the Shobha Yatra. After receiving the complaint, the commission has issued a notice to the DCP in this regard and has directed to investigate the matter under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act. He said that the use of a child in any illegal activity is a punishable, non-bailable offence. He has asked the police to investigate in this regard and told that once the situation is under control, he himself will go to inspect the spot.

Let us inform that NCPCR had received a complaint in this regard from the Legal Rights Observatory on Twitter. Apart from this, it was also learned through various news reports that several minor children were used for stone pelting in the violence. The commission said in a statement that, 'Through complaints, it has also been brought to the notice of the commission that the Maulvis running the madrassas used children for stone pelting on the said occasion.'
