Lucknow: Mayawati, the BSP's supremo, has made a statement in support of the 69,000 teacher recruitment hopefuls who have been protesting for a long time over their requests. He denounced the recent lathi-charge on the candidates and urged the government to take their requests into account. "It is really sad and condemnable to lathi-charge and hurt hundreds of teenagers who carried out a peaceful candle march in the capital Lucknow last night over the old and ongoing matter of recruitment of 69,000 teachers in Uttar Pradesh," he tweeted recently. The bsp urges that the government swiftly address their reasonable demands compassionately.'

Let us tell you that candidates who have been protesting at SCERT in Nishatganj for five months, demanding that the recruitment process be completed by filling 22,000 vacant seats in the recruitment of 69,000 basic teachers, staged a candle march from 1090 crossroads to the Chief Minister's residence on Saturday evening. Meanwhile, the cops attempted to pull them over but no one consented. More than six candidates were injured after being thrashed with sticks on the Lohia Path for disobedience.

In this case, the candidates claim that they met with the Basic Education Minister at his Dalibagh residence several times to discuss their requests, and that when they did not meet with him, they organised rallies and chants. In this way, their anger continues indefinitely. Last Saturday evening, the candidates held a candle march, and earlier that day, on Saturday afternoon, they rallied at the BJP headquarters in Hazratganj.
