Chennai: Mayawati, the leader of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has strongly criticized the Tamil Nadu government for what she perceives as a lack of seriousness in investigating the murder of K Armstrong, the state party chief who was brutally killed near his residence on July 5. She has demanded that the investigation be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Accompanied by her nephew and BSP National Coordinator Akash Anand, Mayawati traveled to Chennai on Sunday to pay her final respects to Armstrong. Speaking to party workers, she expressed deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Tamil Nadu following Armstrong's murder.

"The manner in which Armstrong was murdered indicates a complete breakdown of law and order in Tamil Nadu. The perpetrators responsible for this heinous crime have not yet been apprehended," Mayawati lamented.

Accusing the DMK-led state government of negligence in handling the investigation, Mayawati asserted, "The lack of progress in this murder case clearly shows the state government's lack of commitment to justice. If they are not willing to deliver justice, the case must be handed over to the CBI."

"We demand a CBI probe into this incident. If the state government refuses to refer the case to the CBI, it raises serious questions about their role in this murder," she added pointedly.

Mayawati also highlighted broader concerns about the safety of Dalits in Tamil Nadu, emphasizing that Armstrong's murder was not an isolated incident but a reflection of a larger threat faced by the Dalit community.

"This issue goes beyond the murder of one Dalit leader. The entire Dalit community feels vulnerable, and many Dalit leaders fear for their lives," she remarked, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced security and protection for Dalits across the state.

Critically, Mayawati called out the silence of leaders from the INDIA Alliance regarding Armstrong's murder, questioning their stance on the safety and security of Dalits under the governance of the DMK in Tamil Nadu.

"The silence of INDIA Alliance leaders on this brutal murder is deafening. Their failure to speak out sends a troubling message about their commitment to justice and safeguarding the rights of Dalits," she concluded, urging national leaders to take a stand on the alarming rise in violence against Dalit leaders in the state.

As investigations continue and tensions remain high, Mayawati's demand for a CBI investigation underscores growing calls for impartial and thorough scrutiny into the circumstances surrounding Armstrong's tragic death.
