Lucknow: Replying to opposition parties' sniping at Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former UP CM Mayawati's failure to contest the next few months of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati on Saturday said that public meetings are being held ahead of the elections, That is being done on the basis of public money and a crowd of government employees.

The BSP supremo further said that her party's style of functioning and ways of election are different and we do not imitate any other party. He said that the heat that has risen in the cold for the people of power is the heat of the government and the treasures of the poor people. At the same time, Mayawati said that our party is a party of the poor and the oppressed, not a party of dhanna seths and capitalists like other political parties.

On December 30, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had hit out at the BSP during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) jan vishwas yatra in Moradabad, Aligarh, Unnao saying that the cold of Behnji (Mayawati) was not going down. The election has arrived and she is coming out to campaign too. He seems to have been scared of defeat already. The SP-BSP cannot develop in Uttar Pradesh.
