Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former CM Mayawati has made a big announcement on Friday ahead of next year's proposed assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati has said that BSP will not field Mukhtar Ansari in the upcoming elections. BSP state unit president Bhim Rajbhar will be the party's candidate from the Mau assembly seat.

Mayawati said, "It will be our endeavor not to contest any mafia from the party." BSP chief Mayawati informed the verdict and wrote in a tweet, "BSP will try in the upcoming UP assembly general elections not to contest any mafia, etc. from the party. In view of this, the name of UP BSP State President Bhim Rajbhar, not Mukhtar Ansari, has now been finalized from Mau assembly seat of Azamgarh Division.''

She further wrote, "As a result of this decision taken as part of the people's test and efforts to live up to their expectations, the party charges are appealed to take special care while selecting party candidates so that there is no difficulty in taking strict action against such factors when the government is formed."
