Lucknow: BSP supremo Mayawati attacked the Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP) on Tuesday over the July 17 massacre at Umbha village under Ghoraval police station area of Sonbhadra, saying that the SP and Congress leaders are now on the move. Instead of shedding crocodile tears, the aggrieved tribals should work to get their land back. That would be the most helpful for them. There will be nothing better than that.
In a tweet, the BSP supremo wrote that "according to the tribals victims of the Sonbhadra case, the land mafias of the Congress and then the SP first grabbed their land, which many of them were killed in a protest." In another tweet, Mayawati wrote, "Now, instead of shedding crocodile tears, the SP and Congress leaders should come forward to get the affected tribals back to their land. So it would be right."
Earlier, Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday to meet the families of the victims and visit them. Describing Priyanka's visit as a political stunt, the Uttar Pradesh Yogi government said that the Congress General Secretary should repent for the former acts of her own party leaders at Sonbhadra.
