McDonald's and other companies offer a huge discount to encourage voting

New Delhi: The voting season is on in India to select the next Prime Minister. From celebrities to the government to companies, all are encouraging people to cast their vote this general election. Keeping in mind the importance of higher participation in voting, companies are offering discounts on products and services. The firms like Hero MotoCorp, Subway, Future Retail and Westlife Corporation are offering as high as 30% discount to their customers if they show their index finger as proof.

According to reports of Economic Times, Two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorpis offering two-wheeler wash and servicing of vehicles at Rs 199 as against its regular cost of Rs 500-Rs 600, a report in the Economic Times said. This scheme will be available for two days after polling day in every city in April and May.

Quick service restaurant (QSR) Subway is offering an 18% discount on food items to people who cast their vote. The company said it is targeting 80 million first-time voters who would be exercising their right of vote for the first time in this general elections. 

Ranjit Talwar, country director, South Asia at Subway told ET, “We will complete 18 years in India. In a symbolic way, we have grown with the youth of the country. The prime objective of offering discounts is to encourage the youth to exercise their right to vote,”

The fast food company McDonald's in India, is offering Rs 50 discount on items such as McSpicy Chicken, McSpicy Paneer Burger along with a coke in various cities in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Kerala, Pune and Mumbai.
