Bhopal: MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan declared two cities, including the Jain pilgrimage site of Kundalpur, as "holy areas", and said the sale of meat and liquor will be banned there. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made the announcement on Monday while participating in the Panchkalyanak Mahotsav of the Jain community at Kundalpur in Damoh district, 285 km from Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.

CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, "With the inspiration of Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj, I am declaring Kundalpur and Bandakpur as holy areas, where there will be a complete ban on meat and liquor." Bandakpur town is popular for the temple of Lord Shiva. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that as per the wish of Vidyasagar Maharaj, the state government will start the medical and engineering syllabus in Hindi within a year.

He also appealed to the people to come forward in cow protection work and plant trees for a better environment. Earlier this month, Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishwas Sarang had said that the government will start the MBBS syllabus in Hindi at Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal from the next academic session.
