Lucknow: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has suffered a major setback. Yogesh Verma, a veteran BSP leader in western Uttar Pradesh, along with his wife and several other leaders have joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) today. Yogesh Verma's wife Sunita Verma is now the mayor of Meerut. With his 400 supporters, Sunita Verma and Yogesh Verma joined the Samajwadi Party.
About half a dozen councilors from Meerut today took over the Samajwadi Party. Vineet Shukla, an RSS campaigner from Gorakhpur, joined his supporters and subscribed to the Samajwadi Party. Former MLA Vijay Pal Singh, former minister Avadhesh Verma, former MLA Vijay Yadav, former BJP MLA Shri Ram Bharti, former MP Lakhimpur Dawood Ahmed also held the SP's Daaman Thama.
Yogesh Verma, a minister in the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government, along with former party MLA Vijaypal from Bareilly and Sunita Verma, mayor of Meerut, joined the SP's office in the state Samajwadi Party office.
