Hazaribagh: On Thursday, CM Hemant Soren met Rupesh Pandey's family members in Barhi village of Hazaribagh. Due to this, the Chief Minister handed over the appointment letter to Rupesh Pandey's mother Urmila Devi and a check of Rs 5 lakh. Let us inform that Saraswati Puja was organized in February this year in Barhi village of Hazaribagh. After worship, 18-year-old Rupesh Pandey was beaten to death by some boys of the village at the time of idol immersion.

After this incident, communal tension had prevailed in the entire area. In protest against the massacre, people along with the dead body had blocked the GT Road for several hours. Due to this the traffic came to a complete halt. People were so outraged by the incident that some vehicles were also set on fire. Seeing the deteriorating situation, the police had overnight stopped internet services in 5 cities of Jharkhand including Hazaribagh district.

There was politics on this matter as well. For several days, the BJP continued to hold dharnas in various districts in protest against the incident. In the assembly also, BJP MLAs tried to surround the Hemant Soren government. Leaders of many parties including Congress, JMM, BJP reached Barhi village to meet the family members of Rupesh Pandey. BJP leader Kapil Mishra had reached Jharkhand from Delhi. But the police stopped him at the Ranchi airport itself. He was not allowed to go to Hazaribagh to meet the family members of the victim.
