Prakasam District: A meeting of the District Level Road Safety Committee under the chairmanship of Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy was held at the Collectorate on Tuesday. He assured to take the issues related to the implementation of road safety in the notice of the Central Government. He advised them to prepare a report by identifying them as black spots. He said that the drivers are driving their vehicles at high speed on the highway and getting involved in accidents.

He also advised the officials to carry out the Drunk-n-drive test, implement strict central government rules including autos not allowed on National Highways. The fatality rate in accidents on National Highways is high and the authorities need to reduce the number of accidents. Advised to work in coordination. He said that 1,087 accidents took place in the district in the last five months and inquired about the causes of 471 deaths on national highways. SP Mallika Garg said that as part of road safety measures, the department is observing every Saturday as Zero Accident Day.

He said that many accidents are taking place at the turns and told that the warning signs should be put up at 48 places on the highways in the district. 55 black spots have been marked. ​He ordered the officers to create awareness among 40 villagers, install high mast lights at 21 places and allot the responsibility of electrification at black spots to the local bodies. and to prepare an analytical report. He asked them to repair the Ongole-Podili road immediately. Krishnaveni, Additional SP B Ravichandra, DTTC B Krishnaveni, RTC RM Vijaya Geeta and others also participated.
