Meeting with Iran's top envoy by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed

Dubai: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who is touring the Gulf states on the second leg of his trip, met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on Thursday.

According to state news agency WAM, the two officials talked about ways to improve bilateral ties and cooperation. They also "exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues, and also discussed the importance of building on positive developments to benefit the people of the region and enhance regional stability and prosperity."

According to WAM, Sheikh Mohamed sent his greetings to his Iranian counterpart and expressed his hopes for Iran's continued progress and prosperity for its citizens.

Following his stop in the UAE, Abdollahian is anticipated to meet with the Kuwaiti leadership in addition to the leaders and officials he had earlier meetings with during his trips to Qatar and Oman.

Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Numani, minister of the royal office of Oman, and Iran's top diplomat met on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations and "several areas of cooperation."

A follow-up meeting between Abdollahian and Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, his Omani counterpart, was held in relation to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq's two-day visit to Iran last month.
