After the bomb blast in Shillong's crowded Police Bazar, CM Conrad Sangma said on Tuesday that the Meghalaya government is ready to peace talks with the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), but  but it is not subject to conditions. According to the CM, attempts to engage with the outfit through the central government and other agencies have been made for the past three years.

He also stated that the government is taking steps to prevent extremist groups from recruiting youngsters. It should be noted that the HNLC claimed responsibility for the explosion that occurred in Shillong's Police Bazar on Sunday. Because the establishment had not paid "taxes" to the banned militant group, the act was carried out near the Delhi Mistan, according to the proscribed militant group.

The blast occurred near a shop called Delhi Misthan Bhandar. The explosion did not jeopardise anyone because the area was under lockdown on Sunday, according to the police.

Conrad Sangma has termed the bombing in Shillong's Police Bazaar area as a "cowardly crime." "Any attempt to destabilise the peace and do harm is a cowardly act," remarked CM Conrad Sangma. Sangma further stated that those responsible for the Shillong bombing on Sunday evening will be brought to justice."No one will be spared, including the perpetrators." Conrad Sangma, the chief minister of Meghalaya, said, "We will assure peace in the state."
