After an accident on January 13, the driver of an escort car for Meghalaya home minister Lahkmen Rymbui's convoy was suspended.

After the escort car collided head-on with a motorcycle near Williamnagar, a person died and another suffered serious injuries. A Meghalaya police sub-inspector, who was in the same escort car, has also been suspended. According to the police, both the driver and the officer have been immediately suspended after the incident.

"East Garo Hills SP has suspended driver constable Dimsrang Sangma and sub-inspector Kromith Marak till further instructions," the Meghalaya home department said. In connection with the accident, a case has been filed. East Garo Hills District Executive Force owned the car that was involved in the collision (DEF).
