Employees of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) today announced a series of protests against non-receipt of salaries.The CCORMAU in a meeting on Friday in Shillong decided to launch the agitational programmes from December 15.


According to the report, the Coordination Committee of Registered MeECL Employees Associations and Unions (CCORMAU) has said the employees of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) would launch a series of protests against non-receipt of salaries. The workers will resort to a ‘pen down’ strike on December 15. The employees are protesting because their salaries have remained pending for the last two months.


Talking about the series, on December 16 and 17, the executive committee members of the CCORMAU would stage a hunger strike. the employees will suspend all maintenance works during office hours from 10 am to 4 pm On December 21.  The non-factory workers will go on a mass casual leave and march to the State Secretariat to press for fulfilment of their demand on January 12. There will be a total non-cooperation movement involving all workers on January 18.  There will be total shutdown of service and non-cooperation from January 22 in the event of non-disbursement of salaries even till that time.
