भूत-पिशाच निकट नहीं आवे। महावीर जब नाम सुनावे ।।

 नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा । जपत निरंतर हनुमत बल बीरा।।

This line from Shree Hanuman Chalisa refers to ‘Evil Spirits and Ghosts will not come near you if you take Hanuman’s name. And all the diseases will be cured and pain will be gone when you will continuously chant Hanuman’s name.’ These lines are stuck in the mind of Shree Hanuman’s devotee.

Hanuman also known as Balaji is a commonly worshipped deity in Hinduism. He is also an avatar of Lord Shiva and son of Vayu (the air god). Although being a Lord he himself is the biggest devotee of Shree Ram.  Shree Hanuman is said to be the flow of knowledge, devotion and strength. His name is the first thing that pops up in the minds of people when they’re feared. One of such temples of Lord Hanuman is Mehandipur Balaji which is situated in Mehandipur Sikrai, Rajasthan. This temple is widely famous for curing people under the influence of black magic or evil spirit. Ritual healings and exorcism practices often attract pilgrims here. The story of this temple takes us back to eleventh century where Saint Ganeshpuri ji’s ancestor dreamt of Lord Balaji telling him to build a temple for not just him but also for Shree Pretraj Sarkar and Lord Bhairav Nath. Lord Bhairav Nath captures the evil spirit and Shree Pretraj Sarkar here is worshiped as god who punishes bad spirits. It is said that the idol of Balaji appeared by itself in the jungles of Aravalli Hills. According to people there is a hole in the chest of Lord Hanuman’s from where a continuous flow of water comes out. This water is said to clear and cleans all your problems. Saints in that temple have tried to cover the hole but it was impossible to do so. People come and visit this temple to cure their problems and find relief from their sufferings. As soon as prashad is eaten by the ones under the control of evil spirits of energies they start shouting, moving their head, running and rolling on the ground. These sort of behaviour is not possible for a normal human. In some serious cases patients are tied with iron chains and are brought to the temple.
