Srinagar: The national flag tricolour is also being put up by opposition leaders in their display picture (DP) as part of PM Narendra Modi's Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. However, the opposition has put up the tricolour, but there is a political reason behind it. While the Congress has put a picture of the tricolour in the hands of the first PM Jawaharlal Nehru in its DP, PDP supremo and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti attacked the Centre, saying that even if our flag has been snatched from us, but cannot erase it.

Mehbooba Mufti has also changed the DP of her social media account. But in the DP, Mehbooba has put up a joint picture of PM Narendra Modi and Mohammad Mufti Sayeed, in which the tricolour, as well as the earlier flag of Jammu and Kashmir, is visible. While changing the  DP, Mehbooba Mufti attacked the Centre, she said that my DP has changed because a flag is associated with happiness and pride. For us, the flag of our state was irrevocably attached to the flag of India. However, it was thus snatched by breaking the link. You may have taken away our flag from us, but cannot be erased by our collective conscience.

At a time when the Modi government was discussing the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba had said that if this section is removed, there will be no tricolour-raising person in Kashmir. However, right now Mehbooba has put a tricolour on her DP, but at the same time, the separate flag of Jammu and Kashmir is still housed in her mind and this separatist idea is reflected in her tweet. On the other hand, Congress has put a DP with a picture of the tricolour in the hand of the first PM Jawaharlal Nehru after PM Modi urged people to put up the tricolour as a profile picture on their respective social media accounts.
