Patna: Senior Congress leader Meira Kumar on Monday criticised RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav for making alleged "objectionable" remarks against party state in-charge Bhakta Charan Das and said it has hurt the self-respect of the entire Dalit community. Yadav had made a statement on Sunday making fun of Das.

Das is a Dalit leader and is Bihar in charge of congress. Das has been targeting RJD president Lalu since RJD fielded candidates without consulting congress for bypolls to two seats in the state. "A respected leader has made objectionable remarks against Congress Bihar in-charge Bhakta Charan Das, which has damaged the self-respect of the Dalit community in Bihar and the country, it is an offence under the SC/ST Act." the same former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar told reporters at Patna airport.

She also said Yadav's statement against Congress shows the mindset of the RJD. On Lalu Prasad's remarks on Bihar in-charge Bhaktacharan Das, Meira Kumar said Lalu Prasad is still ill. Even though the doctors have relieved him and sent him to Bihar, he needs to continue his treatment. Meira Kumar said that the kind of language of Lalu Prasad has added to the image of Bihar's glorious history. Pride is not made by abusing anyone.
