Melania Trump will not join Donald Trump at the White House this Wednesday, despite receiving an invitation from President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

In traditional practice, when the outgoing president hosts the incoming president-elect in the Oval Office, the first lady typically hosts her successor for a tea meeting in the residence. For example, after the 2016 election, Michelle Obama hosted Melania Trump in the Yellow Room. However, Melania Trump did not meet with Jill Biden after the 2020 election, following Donald Trump's false claims of winning the race.

Sources confirm that Melania and Jill have yet to speak, even though their husbands had a cordial phone call. "Mrs. Trump is not going, and they have not spoken," a source with knowledge shared.

The last time Melania Trump and Jill Biden may have seen each other was during Rosalynn Carter's funeral in November of last year, which all living former first ladies attended.

There have been numerous reports suggesting that Melania Trump plans to be a part-time first lady if her husband wins a second term. She has not yet announced any specific plans or staff hires.

Biden Couple to Attend Trump’s Inauguration in January 2025, White House Confirms

The Bidens will attend Donald Trump's inauguration in January 2025, marking a significant moment in the transition of power, according to a statement from the White House.

In a longstanding tradition, the outgoing president typically welcomes the incoming president to the White House on the morning of the inauguration. The two leaders then travel together to the Capitol building in the same vehicle for the official swearing-in ceremony.

This custom was observed in 2017 when then-President Barack Obama rode with Donald Trump to his inauguration. Joe Biden, serving as vice president at the time, was also present at the event in his official capacity.

The Bidens’ attendance at Trump’s inauguration will highlight the continuity of democratic traditions in the U.S., despite the political differences between the two men.
