Waiting for Metro in Bhopal Indore ends, MoU signed

Bhopal: Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh and Indore, the economic capital of the state, has taken a step further towards the metro train. On Monday, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, besides the Centre and the state government, for the Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail projects in New Delhi.

The signatures were signed in the presence of Union Urban and Housing Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and state Urban Development and Housing Minister Jayawardhan Singh. It is the endeavour of the Madhya Pradesh government to start Metro services in both the cities by 2023. It may be mentioned that two corridors will be constructed in 27.87 km in the Bhopal Metro Rail Project. A corridor will go from Karonda Circle to AIIMS. The corridor will be 14.99 km long. The second corridor will go from Bhadbhada Crossroads to Ratnagiri Chauraha with a length of 12.88 km. The Bhopal Metro project will cost around Rs 6,941 crore and Rs 40 lakh.

The 31.55-km ring line will be built in the Metro rail project in Indore, the economic capital of the state, known as Mini Mumbai. The corridor will go from Bengali Crossroads to Palasia via Vijayanagar airport. The project will cost a total of Rs 7,500 crore and Rs 80 lakh.
