England crushed Argentina 3-2 in a exciting quarter-final of the hockey World Cup 2018 in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

Expert drag flick Gonzalo Peilat in 48th minutes converted a couple of penalty corners for Argentina.

England scored field goals through Barry Middleton (27th), Will Calnan (44th) and Harry Martin (49th). Earlier they were impressive with their free flowing attacks and well organized defense.

In total it was an end to end affair with plenty of scoring chances for both teams although England had a fun a slightly upper hand for the most part.

Even though England dominated the opening quarter, Peilat gave Argentina the required lead with a powerful drag flick. England goalkeeper George Pinner had dived the correct way but was beaten by the utter power in Peilat's shot.

England nearly struck back in the next minute but a brilliant save by goalkeeper Juan Manuel Vivaldi at his near post maintained Argentina's lead.

There were likelihood at both ends and Vivaldi was soon forced to make another good save to keep Argentina to the lead.But the ruthless England pressure lastly not interested when Middleton scored a field goal with an outstanding finish after a well worked build-up.

Argentina seemed to break up under pressure in the closing minutes with two of their players sent off for yellow card offences as England grabbed a well deserved win.

Now India will face the Netherlands on Thursday, on the other hand Germany will meet Belgium.

Worth mention here the semi-finals will be played on Saturday, with the final is slated for Sunday.
