New Delhi: As soon as the mercy petition of Nirbhaya gang rape case convict Vinay Sharma reached the President in 2012, the Tihar jail administration has started preparations for hanging. Death warrant will be taken from the court as soon as the petition is dismissed, which will clear the way for hanging. Tihar Jail does not have its own executioner. Therefore, the jail administration has started talks with officials of many jails of South India and Uttar Pradesh.

Jail sources say that the execution process will be started as soon as the mercy petition sent to President gets dismissed. After the court's death warrant, the culprits will be hanged in Tihar. Earlier, even at the time of hanging Afzal Guru, there was no executioner near Tihar Jail. At that time one of the prison officials was hanged. The jail administration cannot appoint any executioner under the present circumstances.

According to information received from sources, he will have to call the executioner from any other jail for hanging. Hanging there is given occasionally. In such a situation, permanent appointment of executioner is not required. Tihar Jail Director General Sandeep Goyal told that the executioner will be called from jails of other states if needed. Only after the mercy petition is rejected will there be any discussion on it.

CCTV cameras are being monitored on the culprits: Prison sources say that since the mercy petition was sent, the four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape case are being monitored with CCTV cameras. The jail staff are going to him and talking to him. At the same time, tension is clearly visible on the faces of the culprits Akshay, Vinay, Pawan and Mukesh. However, Vinay is constantly in talks with the jail authorities in the matter of sending mercy petition to the President.
