It is difficult for a woman to travel alone. Yes, that's because anything can happen anywhere and nowadays there are a lot of reports. However, in view of this, Railways have launched a new campaign to protect women travelling alone. In fact, the name of this campaign to protect women is 'Meri Saheli'. This campaign has been launched by Railway Protection Force (RPF) DGP Arun Singh and North Western Railway IG Aroma Singh Thakur for women passengers travelling alone in trains. The campaign was launched in the year 2020 which is excellent.
The drive is being carried out in collaboration with Railway Protection Force (RPF). The operation involves women from the women's wing of RPF who ask women travelling alone during the yatra for their movements and take full care of their safety. The team contacts women passengers from the initial station of the train. She then takes full details of the journey and the destination (where she is going). She tells them about the precautions to be taken while travelling in the train. Railways explain the use of helpline number 182.
During the journey, the team is in constant touch with the women passengers and also escorts each coach of the train. The aim of the 'Meri Saheli' campaign is to prevent crime against women during the journey. Under this campaign, women in the wing will sensitize and protect women on the way. Only women employees have been placed in the team formed by RPF under the 'Meri Saheli' campaign.
