Food has always been a fascinating thing for everyone. Making a career in food and restaurant business was one of the best decisions of Mert Turkmen. He is a restauranter and for more than 7 years, he has been a world-class restaurant operations manager in Dubai. As a child, he was sure to make a career in the culinary industry. While he was 15, he made his foray into the field of hospitality. His interest changed into his passion when he spent most of his time at the kitchen at his father’s steakhouse in Bebek, Turkey. Later, he kickstarted his career with Cipriani in Istanbul.
He was born in Istanbul and grew up amidst fashion, travel and lifestyle which reflects in his work of being into the luxury restaurant market. “I had very humble beginnings, but as the years went on, when I started growing in my career, I ended up in the glamorous UAE. First working in Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island, now I am working at one of Dubai’s top restaurants,” said Mert. He started to find new challenges after working with the Cipriani family for 5 years. He then moved to Robertos in DIFC as a lounge manager. During that time, he even got an offer from Scalini, Dubai where he started working as a restaurant manager for a year. While he was working at Scalini, something unexpected happened with Mert when the owner of Galliard approached him for advice for his restaurant in Dubai.
Well, that was a huge opportunity for Mert after which they met and discussed how to have a successful restaurant business. Turkmen with his team then started working at Galliard and made it a massive success. He is currently working there as the Operations Manager. His expertise and passion for food have surely established Mert Turkmen’s name as the most popular name in the field of hospitality. Apart from food, he is a travel lover and an Instagram influencer who loves to hop from one place to another. His love for travel has made him understand a lot about the different cultures across the globe.
