Argentine star Lionel Messi has now made up his mind to say goodbye to the club after spending nearly 20 years in Barcelona. According to media reports, 33-year-old Messi, who took over Barcelona at the age of just 13, will not extend his contract after June 2021. Messi and his father George had discussed with the club for renewal of the previous agreement but now they do not want to stay in Camp Now. Annoyed by the leaked reports in the media, she is being blamed for the events in the club over the past few months. Messi, who played his first match for Barcelona on 17 October 2004, scored his career's 700th goal on Tuesday.  In this, he has scored 630 for Barcelona, while helping 272.

Messi has been facing allegations of confrontation with the club's Sporting Manager Eric Abidal and former coach Ernesto Valverde. In January, Velverde was removed from the post of coach. Regarding this, Abidal said without naming Messi that the team players were not happy with Velverde. Because of this he had to be sacked. Messi said in response to this that it is wrong to criticize players without naming them. After this confrontation, the relationship between Messi and Abidal has become more useless. At the same time, the new coach Quick Setian appointed in place of Velverde has not won the confidence of the players in the dressing room.

Messi can return to his childhood club, Newell's Old Boys in Argentina. He joined the club at the age of six. Before joining Barcelona in fourteen years, he scored 500 goals while playing for his domestic club. Newell's Old Vice-President Kristin Damico hopes that when that day comes, Messi will definitely return to his childhood club before retirement. Messi and his family have to decide this.
