On the other hand, Mahendra Kumar, the director of rolling stock, who is considered to be the strong pillar of the Lucknow Metro, will also leave Lucknow Metro on June 30. It is worth mentioning here that recently Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's proposal for free travel for women in the Delhi Metro was termed by Sreedharan as an "election man" of the Delhi government.
He urged the Kejriwal government to "not waste" this efficient and successful public transport system for electoral gains. In a letter to Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Sreedharan had said that free travel would increase congestion and increase the risk of accidents. Sreedharan wrote this in a letter to Sisodia on June 20. A few days earlier, the leader had sent a letter to Sreedharan expressing his "surprise" over his opposition to the government's plan.
