At the same time, on Monday i.e., 24 February 2020 in Patiala, the Micro Light Aircraft Army training cadets of NCC Third Air Squadron Battalion crashed in the army cantonment area.

The pilot group commander of the aircraft Gurpreet Singh Cheema was killed, while two NCC cadets were injured. The injured were immediately admitted to the Army Hospital. The condition of one of the injured is stated to be critical. It is being told that the aircraft took off from the Aviation Club on Patiala-Sangrur Road but the aircraft crashed and fell in the army area due to technical fault. Aircraft pilot group commander Gurpreet Singh Cheema was immediately rushed to the Army Hospital in critical condition, where he was declared brought dead. While two NCC cadets were injured.
