Microsoft Corp on Wednesday said that it will trim down its smartphone business by cutting 1,850 jobs, most of them in Finland, and write down $950 million (roughly Rs. 6,403 crores) from the operations.

Chief executive,Satya Nadella said in a statement "We are focusing our phone efforts where we have differentiation. We will continue to innovate across devices and on our cloud services across all mobile platforms."

Few days ago, Microsoft has sold its feature phone business, including the Nokia trademark usage rights to two corporations in the homeland of Nokia, Finland for a meager sum of $350 million. Microsoft still believes that it could make a comeback to the market with its upgraded and remodeled approach towards Windows 10 being a service rather than just a software that you update every couple years.
