Sanjoy Kishan, Minister for Labour and Employment and Welfare of Tea Tribes, handed out checks to women borrowers who took out loans from microfinance institutions in North Lakhimpur on Sunday.

Minister Kishan, the Guardian Minister of Lakhimpur, handed checks to some chosen women borrowers under Category I of the Assam Micro Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme 2021 at an event held by the district administration at Tyagkshetra in North Lakhimpur (AMFIRS).

The event was attended by Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka, Dhakowakhona MLA Naba Kumar Dolley, Bihpuriya MLA Amiya Kumar Bhuyan, and Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah. At the occasion, a total of 5000 out of 21710 women beneficiaries from Lakhimpurdistrict received checks. On November 28, last year, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma put out the ambitious microfinance loan forgiveness plan in order to fulfil a significant election promise. A total of 11 lakh women would benefit from AMFIRS Category I across the State.
