New Delhi: In a historic decision, the Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed the examination for the posts of constable (general duty) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to be conducted in 13 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English. An official statement on Saturday said that this historic decision has been taken on the initiative of Home Minister Amit Shah to increase the number of local youth in CAPFs and encourage regional languages.
CAPFs include the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and National Security Guard (NSG). Taking a historic decision, the Ministry of Home Affairs under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi has given permission to conduct the examination for the posts of constable (general duty) in CAPFs in 13 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English, the statement said.
In addition to Hindi and English, question papers will be provided in 13 regional languages: Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri, and Konkani. A few days before this announcement, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin had written to Shah, requesting that he include Tamil as the language of the written examination for the recruitment of CRPF personnel.
