New Delhi: The National Commission for Minorities has issued a notice to the police on Monday in connection with the alleged anti-Muslim sloganeering at a function held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi saying strict action should be taken in the incident. On the orders of Commission Deputy Chairman Atif Rashid, the institute issued a notice to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi asking him to appear before the Commission on Tuesday and inform him about the details of the matter and the action taken.

Rashid further said that the police should take strict action in the matter. The notice questioned the Deputy Commissioner of Police, 'What action has been taken against those who raise anti-Muslim slogans? Has there been any arrest in the case and under what section has a case been registered against the accused if it has taken place?' The Commission also asked, 'With whose permission such a programme was organized and what steps have been taken to stop such a programme in future?'

In a statement, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a leading Muslim organization, said that its chief Maulana Mahmood Madani has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana requesting them to ensure strict action in the matter. A Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind delegation met the Deputy Commissioner of Police and demanded action.
