Miscreants pelted stones at Shatabdi Express in Punjab, 3 passengers injured

Amritsar: A stone-pelting incident has been reported by some people on the Shatabdi Express train to Amritsar at Khanna railway station in Punjab. Officials say three passengers of the train were injured. The stone pelters have not been identified. Deputy Superintendent of Police Karnal Singh, who is investigating the case, said the incident took place around 8 pm when the Shatabdi Express coming from Delhi was about to reach Khanna railway station, 45 kilometres away.

According to media reports, Punjab Railway Police Director General Sanjeev Kalra said two women - Suman and Sujata - were among the injured. Both are residents of Amritsar. The official said the injured were given first aid at Ludhiana railway station. Incidents of stone-pelting have been reported on trains.

Recently, a case of placing stones on tracks near the railway station in Mumbai Dombivali came to light. A young man was then arrested in the case. According to police, the boys had placed stones on the local track heading towards Kalyan. The incident was around 6 p.m. Officials said that if the motorman did not pay attention then a big accident could have happened.
