18-year-old left studies and digging wells to earn money

The lockdown imposed due to the epidemic corona has affected the employment of many people. This lockdown broke the workers back. In many areas of India, people have to leave their studies, not because they were weak in studies, but because of the financial crisis. 18-year-old Sandeep Kumar hails from Manki village near Samrala in Ludhiana, Punjab. He has passed the 12th standard. After 12th, Sandeep wanted to continue his education, but he has to work as labour to provide financial help to the family.

According to the report of the Indian Express, Sandeep is currently digging a well on a daily wage of three hundred to five hundred rupees. Along with Sandeep, his younger brother, who is currently in the 12th standard, also has to work.

Sandeep goes to work at 8 am every day till 6 pm. He does the job of digging wells. Sandeep said that he wanted to pursue a computer course after 12th, but could not do due to financial problems. Family conditions were bad already but due to lockdown financial situation got worse. He said, "We are digging two wells 20 to 30 feet deep, in the coming days we will put cement in it".
