KIEV Near the western border of Ukraine with NATO member Poland, there were two explosions cooured late night. According to the administration of the Lviv area, a Russian missile struck a Ukrainian military base in the Chervonohrad district on Tuesday night, as per reports.
Regional governor Maksym Kozytskyi posted on Telegram that there was still no information on the harm that had been done. The Russian army launched eight missiles into Ukraine on Tuesday night from long-range bombers flying over the Caspian Sea, according to the Ukrainian Air Force High Command.
It added that an air defence post had been attacked in the Lviv region and that seven of them had been intercepted. Evening reports of explosions came from the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolayiv.
Midway through March, Russia attacked the Yavoriv military training facility, which is only 20 kilometres from the Polish border. According to reports, at least 35 soldiers perished.
An earlier day, Ukraine has taken back 53 communities in Kherson, an area in southern Ukraine that is primarily under Russian occupation.
In the initial stages of their invasion on February 24, Russia took large portions of southern Ukraine. Currently promising to launch a significant counteroffensive to recover territory, Ukraine has attacked Russian supply lines with long-range weapons produced in the West.
Acting governor Dmytro Butriy announced on national television that "as of today, 53 settlements have been confirmed as liberated." This number was nine settlements more than the one he provided on Monday, which seemed to point to an accelerating pace of Ukrainian gains in the area.
