Operation Ganga is still underway to evacuate Indian nationals stranded in Ukraine amid the Russian attack. Meanwhile, the Government of India (MEA) has advised students stranded in the eastern part of Ukraine to be careful for the time being and remain in bomb shelters.

In a tweet, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that 6,222 Indian nationals have been evacuated from Romania and Moldova in the last seven days. On the Indian government's appeal, Hungary has now provided a new airport at Suseva, 50 km from the Ukraine border. Indian ships are being operated through this airport and students and others stranded in Ukraine are being evacuated. Earlier, Operation Ganga was being run through the airport of Bucharest, 500 km from the Ukraine border.

External Affairs Ministry (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a press conference, "We are deeply disturbed about Indian students stranded in the Sumi city of Ukraine. We have put strong pressure on the Russian and Ukrainian governments to go on a ceasefire through various channels. So that the safe corridors in Ukraine can be created to secure the evacuation of Indian people," he said, advising Indian students and people stranded in Ukraine to take safety precautions until they are evacuated from the risk zones. Take shelter in bomb shelters to avoid firing and avoid taking unnecessary risks. In this regard, the Ministry and our Embassy are in regular touch with the students.
