New Delhi: The Indian women's team performed dismally in the first ODI match against England. India scored just 201 runs in the match. Mithali Raj top-scored for India with 77 runs. England's women's team achieved India's target of 202 runs in just 35 overs. England won by 8 wickets in the match played in Bristol. If Shefali Verma is left out, no Indian player has a strike rate of 100 or more.

Mithali Raj blamed batting and bowling for India's first ODI defeat. With this win, England women's team took a 1-0 lead in the three-ODI series. The Indian women's batsmen played 181 dot balls in the match, which managed to score only 201 runs. Talking during the press conference, Mithali said, "Yes, we have to keep changing the strike in this context. We need our top five batsmen to score runs. We also need to understand that the England fast bowlers are very experienced. She knows better how to bowl under these conditions.''

Mithali also said that the time has come for the Indian women's team to prepare young fast bowlers for the future and serve Jhulan Goswami for a long time and think differently from more responsibility. Our fast bowlers did not bowl well, she said. If we could have taken early wickets, we can put pressure on England, she added.
