New Delhi: Who doesn't know the name of Mithali Raj in Indian cricket? Mithali Raj, who made many records like a century in debut match, century at the youngest age, highest run, has now quietly broken the record of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, which Tendulkar also had to play cricket for more than 22 years to make. However, it is a different matter that Mithali's record was silenced somewhere in the glare of the IPL 2022 auction. In fact, the record for the longest career in the history of ODI cricket is now registered in the name of Mithali Raj.

On February 12, when all the cricket fans of India were merry in the news of the IPL 2022 auction, Mithali Raj was making a record that was happening for the first time in the history of men's or women's cricket till date. Mithali Raj, when she took the field against New Zealand on February 12, saw her ODI career run into 22 years and 231 days. With this, she became the first cricketer on earth to have an ODI career of more than 22 years and 100 days.

Earlier the record for the longest career in both men's and women's cricket (both) was recorded in the name of Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin's ODI career lasted for 22 years and 91 days. However, Mithali Raj has now broken Sachin's record. Sachin now has the longest career record in men's cricket only. Sachin played his first ODI match on 18 December 1989 and the last ODI match on 18 March 2012. Mithali Raj played her first ODI match on June 26, 1999.
