Renault, Nissan Motor, and Mitsubishi Motors Corp, all of which are super car brand from France, will soon work on the development of electric cars. On Thursday, January 27, the three, known as Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance, is scheduled to reveal its electric vehicle plans. According to Reuters, the three car manufacturers plan to triple their investment in joint electric vehicle development.

The French-Japanese alliance is expected to invest more than 20 billion euros over the next five years, according to reports. By the end of the decade, it is anticipated to have developed 30 electric cars based on five common EV platforms. Major five EV platforms are expected to account for 90% of all electric vehicles manufactured by these manufacturers until 2030. The group has already formed four common electric vehicle platforms.

One favors electric vehicles such as the Nissan Ariya and Renault Megane EV. Another platform supports Dacia cars from Renault and Nissan's China partner Dongfeng's cheap cars. The two remaining platforms are designed for micro minis, known in Japan as "kei cars."
