Aizawl: Mizoram reported 863 new corona cases in a day, taking the total number of infected to 46,320 on Wednesday. The new infection cases include 115 prisoners from a rehabilitation center in Aizawl. A health officer has been informed in this regard. Meanwhile, seven new cases of Covid-19 have been registered in the Union Territory of Ladakh, which has increased the total number of infected persons in the Union Territory to 20,407.

The official said the death toll due to two more deaths due to coronavirus infection in the northeastern state of Mizoram has gone up to 171. The official said that Aizawl has registered the highest number of 590 new cases, followed by Kolacib with 76 and Mamit with 53 cases. He said the daily infection rate was 13.2 percent. The official said 115 prisoners of Operation Kingdom Ministry Home on the outskirts of Aizawl were diagnosed with an infection on Tuesday. A massive investigation drive was launched here.

The new cases include a total of 147 children and three BSF personnel. There are now 12,427 active cases of Covid-19 in the state, while 33,722 people have recovered from the infection so far, including 854 people recovered on Tuesday. The rate of recovery of coronavirus in the state is 72.80 percent, while the mortality rate is 0.36 percent.
