On Wednesday, Mizoram logged 1,806 new COVID-19 cases, dropping 418 from the previous day, bringing the state's total to 1,89,915, according to a health department official.

On Tuesday, the state recorded 2,224 COVID-19 instances, he said.According to the official, three persons have died from the virus in the previous 24 hours in the Aizawl and Saitual districts, bringing the total death toll to 626.

He added the single-day positive rate fell to 23.70 percent from 27.37 percent the day before. According to him, the newly affected patients included at least 367 children. According to him, Aizawl district had the most new cases, with 877, followed by Lunglei district (226), and Champhai district (160).

COVID-19 has already infected 13,385 people in the northeastern state, with 2,409 people recovering in the previous 24 hours, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 1,75,904. COVID-19 patients had a recovery rate of 92.62 percent and a mortality rate of 0.32 percent. More than 17.30 lakh samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the northeastern state, with 7,620 samples tested on Tuesday. Dr Lalmuanawma Jongte, the state vaccination officer, said that over 7.98 lakh individuals have been immunised so far, with 6.21 lakh receiving the full dosage.
